Scholarship Application FAQ
Can I change the font size in the application?
Yes, but the minimum for any text is 10 point. Anything below this will be difficult to photocopy. Also, too much information does not necessarily equate to good information and will be judged accordingly.
Can I change the font style?
No. For consistency and ease of copying, the font style provided should be left alone.
Okay, how about changing the font color?
Again, remember that the applications will be photocopied, so colored text could be "invisible" and therefore not even presented to the judges.
Can my personal references submit a letter?
Yes, they should submit the personal reference form and a brief (one page) letter on appropriate letterhead.
Can my pictures and clippings be inserted electronically?
Yes, but remember that you are submitting the final application in printed form, so be sure the pictures do not cause formatting problems. When cropping and copying photos be sure the photos do not become distorted. Also, remember that the applications will be photocopied so color pictures may become black-and-white and should therefore have appropriate clarity and contrast.
How do I add rows to the tables of information?
The easiest way is to press the Tab key when the cursor is in the very last (bottom-right) cell of a table.
Can I add more rows than what fit on the page?
Only the “Show Records” tables in Section 8 and 9 can extend to a second page. To compensate, it is acceptable to reduce the font size down to 10 point, but after that, try to eliminate rows.
Can I change the table's row height properties?
No. Re-read previous answer.
When is the scholarship application due?
The National post mark deadline is May, but the state deadline is decided by the state contact. Please contact your state Auxiliary for deadline. Remember all applications must first be submitted to your state or regional scholarship chairperson. Then each state submits one male and one female application to national.
